Edward Jacob Lang

Included on the basis of: Explicit ideological alignment (§0 criterion 1), demonstrated by the subject's own statements

Edward Jacob "Jake" Lang is a January 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol attack defendant, pardoned by President Trump in January 2025, who has since become a far-right activist and street demonstrator. His own recorded public statements -- including a Nazi salute and remarks invoking the "Great Replacement" conspiracy theory at a January 2026 demonstration outside AIPAC headquarters, and anti-Muslim rhetoric framed around a self-described Christian-nationalist "crusade" at 2026 demonstrations in Minnesota, Michigan, and New York -- establish an explicit alignment with white-nationalist and exclusionary Christian-nationalist ideology. He has since faced additional criminal charges, including a felony charge in Minnesota for vandalizing a permitted ICE-related sculpture, a guilty plea in Washington, D.C. to threatening a police commander, and a riot arrest in Minneapolis (on which prosecutors ultimately declined to file felony charges).

Location: Florida

Documented fact

Lang was held in federal pretrial detention for approximately four years following his January 2021 arrest, including an unsuccessful appeal of his detention order, and was never convicted or acquitted at trial before his January 2025 pardon.

Editorial classification

ExtremismLedger classifies Lang's own recorded statements above (the AIPAC demonstration and Dearborn rally) as demonstrating explicit ideological alignment with white-nationalist and exclusionary Christian-nationalist movements, per Editorial Policy §0 criterion 1. This is the project's editorial classification applied to Lang's own directly quoted words, not an independent finding by any court or government body.

Documented fact

In 2026, Lang was arrested twice in Texas in connection with the Karmelo Anthony murder trial -- for criminal trespass near the courthouse (Collin County, released on bond June 3) and for an alleged terroristic threat against Anthony (Dallas County, released on reduced $250,000 bond June 23 and ordered to leave Texas except for legal proceedings).

Allegation 09/11/2026

On September 11, 2026, Lang led a New York City demonstration he branded a "Crusader March," marching with a large wooden cross near the World Trade Center site; reporting describes anti-Muslim signage at the event and white-nationalist symbols displayed by some other attendees.

Documented fact 08/19/2026

At an August 18-19, 2026 rally he led outside a Dearborn, Michigan city council meeting, Lang stated that Muslims "have not come here to assimilate" but "to steal the wealth of this land," declared "the crusade has begun," and told Muslim residents "your time in this country is running short."

Allegation 03/08/2026

On March 8, 2026, Lang organized an anti-Islam demonstration outside Gracie Mansion, the New York City mayoral residence; two counter-protesters were arrested after throwing incendiary devices.

Documented fact 01/17/2026

On January 17, 2026, Lang attempted to lead a march in Minneapolis framed around opposition to the fatal shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent, and was surrounded by counter-demonstrators before local residents helped him leave the area.

Documented fact 01/04/2026

At a January 4, 2026 demonstration outside AIPAC's Washington, D.C. headquarters, Lang gave a Nazi salute, threw chocolate coins, displayed a banner reading "Make Jerusalem Christian Again," and stated: "White people in America, you will be replaced, and your children will be Black Muslims if you don't stand up now." Asked whether the Holocaust happened, he responded, "Not at that level, no."

Documented fact 10/22/2025

While briefly running for U.S. Senate from Florida in October 2025, Lang said he would "deputize the Proud Boys and the January 6 Patriots to bounty hunt illegal immigrants" and that banning Islam would be his first act in office; his campaign raised $4,397, never registered with Florida's Secretary of State, and did not appear on the ballot.

Documented fact 01/21/2025

President Donald Trump's January 2025 mass pardon of January 6 defendants covered Lang, who was released from D.C. jail on January 21, 2025 without his federal case having reached a verdict.

Documented fact 01/29/2021

Federal prosecutors charged Lang in an 11-count indictment (U.S. v. Edward Jacob Lang, No. 1:21-cr-00053, D.D.C.) following his January 16, 2021 arrest, including three felony counts of assaulting/resisting/impeding law enforcement (two involving a deadly or dangerous weapon), three felony civil-disorder counts, and one felony count of corruptly obstructing a congressional proceeding; court filings describe him striking officers with a baseball bat and a stolen riot shield, based substantially on video he recorded himself. The case did not reach a verdict before the January 2025 pardon mooted it.
