Threat Against MPD Commander Jason Bagshaw (Washington, D.C.)
Convicted · 01/06/2026
Washington, D.C.
At a January 6, 2026 event marking the fifth anniversary of the Capitol attack, Lang was recorded approaching Metropolitan Police Department Commander Jason Bagshaw and telling him he should be "put down like a dead dog" and "hung ... in front of the Capitol on national TV," and that "public execution is the only solution for animals like you." D.C. prosecutors charged Lang with making threatening statements; he initially pleaded not guilty and a bench warrant was issued in March 2026 after he missed a preliminary hearing. On July 28, 2026, Lang pleaded guilty to a threats charge in D.C. Superior Court. Judge Robert R. Rigsby sentenced him to 180 days' imprisonment, suspended, and ordered him to pay a $500 fine plus $200 to the D.C. Victims of Violent Crime Compensation Fund. No violation of the suspended sentence's conditions has been identified in the sources reviewed.
