Minneapolis City Hall Confrontation and Riot Arrest
Alleged · 08/22/2026
Minneapolis City Hall
On August 22, 2026, Lang arrived at Minneapolis City Hall with a group traveling in two vehicles, which drove onto the sidewalk toward a crowd that had gathered in anticipation of his previously announced appearance; officers reported deploying to separate the group from surrounding counter-demonstrators, and a chemical irritant was used by people on both sides. Lang displayed a large sign bearing a racial slur (the "N-word"), which multiple outlets reported was intended as a reference to a Rochester, Minnesota woman recently convicted of using the same slur toward a child. Minneapolis police arrested Lang and five others associated with him -- described as his security detail -- on probable cause of riot. On August 25, 2026, the Hennepin County Attorney's Office announced it would not file felony charges, stating prosecutors "cannot prove the requisite intent in light of the evidence of communication and logistical coordination" between Minneapolis police and Lang's security detail before the event. The Hennepin County Attorney's declination does not by itself resolve whether the Minneapolis City Attorney's Office -- which retains separate authority to bring misdemeanor or gross-misdemeanor charges -- will do so; no such charge has been identified in the sources reviewed as of this record's publication. Lang remained in Hennepin County Jail after the declination, held on an unrelated Texas warrant arising from a pending terroristic-threat case in Collin County/Dallas County, Texas; no source reviewed confirms a subsequent release or extradition disposition as of this record's publication.
