Sean Hannity -- Documented Dominion-Related Broadcast Activity
Overview
This page documents specific, sourced conduct by Sean Hannity connected to the Dominion election-fraud litigation against Fox. Per ExtremismLedger's editorial policy Sec. 0.1, this documentation does not constitute a determination that Hannity is personally an extremist; no such classification has been made for this record -- inclusion_basis is set to the non-extremist "Associated participant / materially involved" basis, documenting the connection below without asserting personal extremism.
Documented activity
On November 30, 2020, Sidney Powell appeared on Hannity's radio show and, later that evening, on his Fox News television program, where she claimed -- without presenting evidence -- that Dominion voting machines ran an algorithm that shifted votes from Trump to Biden. Reporting on the litigation record indicates Hannity knew in advance what Powell would say, having heard the same claims on his radio program earlier that day, and intended to raise her allegations on the television broadcast. Available secondary reporting does not establish, from a verified transcript, that Hannity himself personally asserted the vote-switching-algorithm claim as fact that night, as distinct from providing Powell a platform to make it.
Context
In deposition testimony made public in the litigation, Hannity testified: "That whole narrative that Sidney was pushing, I did not believe it for one second," and "Nobody ever convinced me that their argument was anywhere near accurate or true." Rupert Murdoch separately testified, when asked whether Hannity had "endorsed" false election claims, "Yes. They endorsed." These two pieces of evidence -- Hannity's own stated disbelief, and Murdoch's characterization of endorsement -- are both part of the record and are presented together rather than one to the exclusion of the other.
