Fox announced on April 24, 2023 that it had parted ways with Carlson, one week after the $787.5 million Dominion settlement; Fox executives Suzanne Scott and Lachlan Murdoch were reported to have made the decision. In November 2021, a three-part Fox Nation documentary series, "Patriot Purge," aired under a content deal involving Carlson, characterizing January 6, 2021 as potentially a government "false flag" operation and warning of an impending "manhunt" against conservatives. Private text messages made public in the Dominion litigation show Carlson repeatedly and contemporaneously disputing Sidney Powell's election-fraud claims: on November 16, 2020 he told his producer "Sidney Powell is lying," texted Laura Ingraham "Sidney Powell is lying by the way. I caught her. It's insane," and texted Powell directly, "You keep telling our viewers that millions of votes were changed by the software ... If you don't have conclusive evidence of fraud at that scale, it's a cruel and reckless thing to keep saying."
